#405 "Mountain Vistas"

There were three main food groups for the Inland Plateau Indians of Central Oregon: fish, deer, and huckleberries. During the early fall, the tribes from the Warm Springs Indian Reservation would make their way to the high country, where the abundant patches of huckleberry could be found. They would often camp for weeks at a time, and the occasion would be celebrated by the annual huckleberry festival. This scene is in the heart of the high Cascade huckleberry area.
